2022 Insurance PRO TIP #5: Personal Auto Insurance minimum liability limits in the state of MS are 25/50/25. What does that mean? It means that every driver should have a minimum of $25,000 of liability coverage per person and $50,000 of liability coverage in bodily injury damage per accident. Ending with $25,000 in property damage coverage (aka 25/50/25). Stop and take a quick moment to ask yourself what you paid for your automobile or what the average value of other vehicles on the road are. Cruising the Coast is my favorite example to bring up when discussing liability limits on auto insurance coverage. Will $25,000 be enough money to replace the value of your car if you are involved in an at-fault accident? More importantly, if you are at-fault, will $25,000 be enough money to cover the value of that beautiful '57 Chevy you didn't mean to hit but are now liable to pay for? Let's not even mention the bodily injury liability limits with medical costs being what they are today.
Insurance professionals HIGHLY recommend 100/300/100 in liability limits regardless of what state mandated laws are. These values in coverage will more than likely cover you if you're involved in an at-fault accident. Speak to your insurance agents about this. You can get so much more coverage for a lower premium increase than you might think. We believe a few more dollars a month might be worth it in the long run especially if you text and drive. By the way - DON'T DO THAT!!
